A digital capture from the Canon 1D MK II + Canon 24-70 L …

and a B&W conversion …

I love the B&W conversion, but I think the color original connects well enough that it bears viewing.  In any case it’s interesting to see a contrast in processing and how it affects the mood of the image.  More importantly, this particular shot really embodies what I’m hoping to do with the series.  I’ll have to think about articulating my manifesto later but whatever it is this capture has it in spades.

Camera wise I did cheat a little with the Canon.  I added two speedlights to the mix and used some bounce from the camera flash as well.  It’s not pure available light but I wanted to see if I could just help out a little bit.  I think the ends justify the slight.
